Getting started
What is Lucid Signing?
A simple way to send documents for electronic signature, get them signed on any device, and keep a sealed record of everything that happened.
How quickly can I send my first document?
About a minute: sign up, upload a PDF, place the fields and send.
What kinds of files can I send?
PDFs. Most word processors can save or export a document as a PDF.
Do the people I send to need an account?
No. Each recipient gets a secure, single-use link. They open it, sign and they are done.
Signing and the law
Are electronic signatures legal in South Africa?
Yes. The Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 recognises electronic signatures. Where the law does not demand a particular type of signature, an electronic signature is valid.
What can't be signed electronically?
A small number of documents still need wet ink or an advanced electronic signature, including wills, the sale or long lease of immovable property, mortgage bonds and certain bills of exchange.
What type of signature does Lucid Signing provide?
Ordinary electronic signatures, backed by an audit trail and a certificate of completion. They suit the great majority of everyday agreements.
How do I prove who signed?
Every document has an audit trail recording each event with the signer's email, IP address, browser and time, and you can ask signers to confirm a one-time code sent to their email. The certificate of completion carries a SHA-256 fingerprint of the final file.
Plans and billing
Is there a free plan?
Yes, free forever with no card required. The first 3 documents each month carry no watermark.
What do the paid plans cost?
Pro is R99 a month or R990 a year. Max is R250 a month or R2,500 a year. Enterprise is Pro or Max, priced per seat.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
Privacy and AI
Is my data safe?
Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, and row-level security keeps every account's records apart. We handle personal information in line with POPIA.
How does the AI reading help work?
Highlight a passage and ask for it to be explained, defined, summarised or translated into Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa, Sesotho, Setswana, Portuguese or French. Only the highlighted text is sent, and it is never used to train a model.
Send your first document in about a minute.
Free forever for the occasional signature. No card required.
